My family and I are looking into spending a week at Shatsky Lakes this summer, but I'm having a hard time finding consistent information on current pricing. We are hoping to find a comfortable cabin or a decent guesthouse that isn't too far from the water. Has anyone visited recently and can share their thoughts on the overall quality of the accommodations? I'd also love to know if the prices have spiked significantly compared to last year. Any advice on which specific beach area is best for kids would be greatly appreciated!

We were there last August. Honestly, prices have gone up by about 20-25% compared to two years ago. Book as early as possible because the good spots fill up fast.

I second that! Definitely try to book by April if you want a decent cabin near Lake Svityaz.

Does anyone know if the water quality is still good? I heard rumors about algae blooms last summer.

The water was perfectly fine when we visited in July. Svityaz is always great for swimming.

If you are traveling with kids, I highly recommend looking for a place near the central beach area in Svityaz village. It's shallow for quite a distance.

Agree with the central beach advice! Just avoid the main weekend crowds if you want some peace.

Is it worth driving all the way there from Kyiv? Seems like a long haul for a week.

It's definitely worth it for the nature, but the road quality varies. Just take your time.

Don't expect luxury. Most 'comfortable' cabins are still fairly basic by international standards, but they are charming enough.

Check out the private guesthouses on the outskirts of the village. They are usually quieter and cheaper than the big resorts.

That's a good tip. We stayed at a place about 15 minutes walking from the lake and saved a ton of money.

Are there any decent restaurants around? We don't really want to cook every night.

There are plenty of cafes, but they get very crowded. Expect to wait for a table during peak dinner hours.

Bring mosquito repellent! You'll thank me later, especially if you're staying near the forest.

Oh absolutely, the mosquitoes are relentless in the evenings. Don't forget the spray!
