I'm looking to book a beach trip for late autumn, but I'm struggling to find somewhere that is still genuinely warm and sunny. I would like to avoid the peak rainy seasons in the tropics, so I am looking for suggestions where the weather is reliable during the shoulder season. Does anyone have experience with the Canary Islands or perhaps the Southern coast of Turkey during this time of year? I am mainly hoping for swimmable water temperatures and plenty of sunshine for a relaxing week away. Any specific resort towns or hidden gems you would recommend for a couple?

The Canary Islands are a solid bet for October. Lanzarote specifically stays quite warm and the wind keeps it from feeling oppressive.

I second the Canary Islands recommendation. Tenerife has microclimates, so if you stay in the south, you're almost guaranteed sunshine.

Turkey is beautiful in October, but the water in the Mediterranean starts cooling down by November. It might be refreshing rather than warm.

Have you considered Cyprus? It stays much warmer than Turkey or the Canaries deep into November.

Skip the Mediterranean if you want guaranteed swimmable water in November. Head to the Caribbean instead, just keep an eye on the hurricane season forecasts.

I went to Antalya in late October last year and it was perfect-warm enough to swim, but no crowds at all.

Check out Cape Verde if you want something closer to the equator without the massive flight time of the Caribbean.

Honestly, the Canaries are the safest bet for reliable weather without being a super long-haul trip from Europe.

I'd suggest Fuerteventura if you're into beaches. The water temp is decent, though it can be a bit windy.

Does anyone know if Egypt is a good option for November? I've heard the Red Sea is great that time of year.

Egypt is fantastic in November! The Red Sea is still very warm and the desert heat is much more manageable than in the summer months.

Whatever you choose, just avoid the North African coast by mid-November, it gets quite unpredictable with rain.
