My partner and I are starting to plan our next vacation, and we're really dreaming of a beach getaway abroad. The catch is, we're on a fairly strict budget this time around, so we're trying to find destinations that offer great value without sacrificing the beautiful scenery. We're open to pretty much anywhere outside of our home country (we're from the US), whether it's Southeast Asia, Central America, or even less-known European coastal towns. We're looking for places where the cost of living, accommodation, and food won't break the bank, allowing us to enjoy the trip without constant financial worry. Has anyone had amazing experiences with truly affordable international beach spots? We'd love to hear your recommendations for destinations that combine stunning beaches with a friendly price tag.

Definitely Southeast Asia! Thailand or Vietnam are amazing for budget travelers. You can get incredible food for cheap and the beaches are just stunning.

Seconding Thailand! Look into Koh Lanta or Krabi. Stunning beaches, super friendly locals, and you can live like royalty on a shoestring budget. Skip Phuket if you're really trying to save, it's gotten pretty pricey.

If you're looking closer to home than Asia, Nicaragua is surprisingly affordable and has some beautiful Pacific coast beaches. San Juan del Sur is popular but you can find quieter spots too if you venture out.

For Europe, consider Albania! The Albanian Riviera is absolutely gorgeous, think clear turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs, but without the Greek island prices. Ksamil is lovely, or Dhermi for a slightly more upscale but still affordable vibe.

Wherever you go, try to eat street food or local restaurants away from the main tourist strips. That's where you save big on food. Also, look for guesthouses or Airbnb rooms instead of big resorts, you'll get more local flavor too!

What kind of 'vibe' are you looking for? More quiet and relaxed, or something with a bit more nightlife and activities? That might help narrow down the suggestions!

Totally agree with the Southeast Asia suggestions. My partner and I did the Philippines a few years ago (Palawan!) and it was unbelievably beautiful and affordable. Flights are the biggest cost, but once you're there, it's incredibly cheap to get around and eat.

Belize might be worth looking into as well. English is the official language which makes things easy, and while Caye Caulker can be a bit touristy, it's still pretty chill and you can find good deals on food and lodging, especially if you cook some of your own meals.

I'd actually caution against some parts of Mexico if you're *really* strict on budget. Cancun/Playa del Carmen can be surprisingly expensive now, especially with the all-inclusive resorts. Oaxaca coast (Puerto Escondido, Mazunte) is better value but still not dirt cheap.

Vietnam, 100%! Phu Quoc has amazing beaches and the food is out of this world. You can get private bungalows for surprisingly little, especially if you go slightly off-peak.

No matter where you go, seriously consider shoulder season or even low season if you can deal with potential rain. Prices plummet for everything from flights to accommodation. We went to Costa Rica in September and saved a ton.

To expand on the Albania suggestion - Montenegro is also fantastic and very budget-friendly, especially outside of Kotor in places like Ulcinj or Ada Bojana. Both offer stunning beaches and unique culture without the crowds of Croatia.

Consider Sri Lanka! It's got incredible beaches, amazing food, and a really low cost of living. It's a bit further but truly stunning and unique, definitely worth the journey.

So many great ideas here! It sounds like Southeast Asia or the Balkans are your best bet for truly 'breaking the bank' affordability with amazing scenery. Good luck with the planning!
