We are starting to plan our summer vacation and really want to find a hotel that has a decent water park on-site for the kids. My children are 7 and 10, so they need more than just a small splash pad to stay entertained for a few days. We are looking at the Southeast US, maybe somewhere in Florida or Georgia, but we are open to other suggestions. Does anyone have a favorite spot that isn't completely overpriced or overcrowded? We'd love a place where the rooms are clean and the pool area is actually well-maintained.

You should definitely check out the Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee. The water park there is perfect for that age range, and they have plenty of activities indoors too.

I second Gaylord Palms, but just a heads up, it can get pretty pricey during peak summer months.

Look into the Great Wolf Lodge in LaGrange, Georgia. It’s built specifically for kids those ages and the water park is massive.

Great Wolf is fun but honestly it feels super crowded and noisy most of the time. Not very relaxing for parents.

Have you considered the Wild Dunes Resort in South Carolina? It’s a bit more upscale but the pool areas are fantastic and well-maintained.

Wild Dunes is nice, but does it really have a 'water park' feel? It's more of a resort pool setup.

If you want a real water park experience, check out Flamingo Waterpark Resort in Kissimmee. It’s smaller than the big theme park hotels but much more affordable.

Stay away from the budget options in Orlando, they usually cut corners on cleaning. Stick to the bigger brands if you want a clean room.

We love the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. The lazy river and the slides keep my kids occupied for hours.

ChampionsGate is great, but make sure you book well in advance because it sells out fast for July.

Has anyone been to the Jekyll Island Club Resort? Not a water park per se, but the beach club is wonderful for kids.

That's a nice spot, but the OP specifically asked for water parks, not just beach access.

Try the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. The pool area is legendary with the caves and slides, definitely worth a look for 7 and 10 year olds.

Hyatt Regency is my top pick too. It feels like a tropical oasis and the maintenance is top-notch.

Honestly, just pick a place near a local city water park if you want to save money on the resort fees.

That sounds like way too much effort while on vacation. I'd rather pay the premium to have it right outside my hotel door.
