My partner and I are planning a long weekend getaway to the thermal springs in Western Ukraine, but we are torn between Kosino and Beregovo. We are looking for something a bit more relaxing, but it would be nice to have decent infrastructure and maybe some good local restaurants nearby. I've heard Kosino is more modern and 'resort-like,' while Beregovo feels a bit more traditional and town-focused. Has anyone visited both recently and could offer a comparison on the water quality and crowd levels? We would really appreciate any tips on which one is better for a quiet couple's retreat.

If you really want a quiet couple's retreat, definitely go for Kosino, but stay at the hotel directly on the resort grounds. It gets crowded during the day with day-trippers, but in the evenings, it's very peaceful.

I second that. Beregovo is more of a town experience, so it's busier with traffic and city noise. Kosino feels like a true getaway.

Honestly, I found the water in Beregovo to be a bit more authentic, but the facilities are definitely aging. If you prioritize comfort and modern amenities, Kosino wins hands down.

Agreed, the infrastructure in Kosino is much better maintained. Are you planning to visit on a weekend? If so, prepare for crowds in both places.

I visited both last autumn. Kosino is great for the 'resort' vibe, but Beregovo has much better local wine and food options since you are actually in the town. Depends on what you value more.

That's a fair point about the wine! The restaurants in Beregovo are much more diverse than the buffet-style stuff you usually find in the resort complexes.

Just a heads up: the sulfur smell is quite strong in both locations, but I felt like the ventilation in the indoor pools at Kosino was better managed.

Good to know! I was worried about the smell. Does the water in Kosino feel as mineral-rich as Beregovo?

I've been to both and honestly, for a romantic weekend, I'd pick Kosino. The landscaping is beautiful and it's much easier to just relax without worrying about navigating a town.

I'd suggest checking the booking sites for Kosino early because the good rooms sell out fast for weekends.

Don't forget to visit the nearby wineries in the Berehove district regardless of where you stay, it's the highlight of the region!
